On Saturday, October 12, 2013 Junior League of North Harris and South Montgomery Counties hosted a Literacy Carnival for the 3rd time. It was a day filled with fun reading activities, bounce houses, face paint, food, children's author, and so many more family friendly activities! Thank you to Noble Energy for being the Entertainment Sponsor. To God be the Glory for this beautiful day!
On Saturday, September 28, 2013 we had various community members gather and sale items. Our Flea Market is like a big community garage sale. Thanks to God we were able to host the event for most of the time that it was planned for before it began to rain. A special thanks to Faithbridge Church for donating all of the food for the event. Also, thanks to Second Baptist Church for volunteering with the set-up, cooked, and helped sell the food items. It takes a community effort to have a great event towards strengthening the community.
Sports Night Out
On Thursday, August 22, 2013 after a couple of meetings with the Sports Committee and Jose Rodas stepping up to lead soccer and Andrew Hutchinson to lead basketball. God truly blessed our faithfulness in hosting the Sports Night. It was amazing to see the weather be perfect, and to watch men and teens come to spend that time of fun and fellowship together. We had a total of about 30 men and about 35 or more teens, lots of volunteers, good food, a dynamic guest speaker and message given by Reginald Gordon, inspirational music/rap by Pastor Joseph Rios' church. This was really an example of what can happen when the community comes together as a whole in one accord. Thanks again to Ms. Pam Gray for her financial donation to purchase the food.
Back To School Supplies
On Saturday, August 17, 2013 Aldine CTC with the collaboration of various business and individual donors were able to provide Book bags and school supplies to over 320 children. Thank you to all those that donated and volunteered to organize, pack, and distribute all the supplies.
Convergint Visits Aldine CTC
On Friday, June 7th, Aldine CTC, 4700 Aldine Mail Rt., was blessed to have over 100 Convergint employees and family members to come and help us with a variety of projects to improve our Center. As a community organization serving thousands of residents with over 30 educational, vocational, social, recreational, and spiritual programs, having the funds and volunteers to keep up with our needs is always a challenge. Sylvia Bolling, Director, has always stood on the promise made to her by God over 23 years ago, that He would send what was needed to be able to do this important work. When we received a call from Convergint Technologies, located at 1450 N. Sam Houston Parkway East, In the Greenspoint area, it truly was an answer to our prayer for support. We were chosen to be the beneficiary of their Houston office Day of Service for 2013.
Convergint Technologies was founded on a set of core values and beliefs. These values and beliefs focus on Convergint's commitment to our customers, our colleagues and their families, and our communities. One of these values "we believe in balanced lives" supports our belief that it is important for all of us to balance our time, energy, and commitments across our families, our business, and our communities. In support of this value, each year, Convergint colleagues across North America go into their communities and contribute to those in need. Convergint Social Responsibility Day is officially celebrated in mid June of every year.
They met with us and we decided on a variety of projects their employees were going to do which included painting, construction work, tree trimming, planting gardens, technology and internet work, phone installation, organizing and building shelves in our storage containers, construction of a dropbox for our resale shop, organized our food pantry and donated food, netting for our soccer field, and much more. The generosity and heart of caring shown by each of their employees and their company as a whole is a wonderful example that shows what other companies could do to make a positive difference in our community through supporting organizations and missions. On behalf of our community residents, we are so grateful to them for this blessing.
Please come by and visit the Center and see what Convergint has done for us and learn about all the other programs and services we offer. Volunteers and donations are always needed.
